Keep It Real...
You know you love you some greens. but you also know you don't have all day, everyday, to braise them thangs! don't trip,, fam; i got you. all you need is a few ingredients, a few utensils, and a few Minutes!
Ingredients
1-2 smoked meat selections (turkey legs/thighs, ham hocks; ¼ tsp liquid smoke for the vegan fam!); cut the meat off the bone!
1/2 an onion, chopped
2 cloves garlic (or 1 healthy tbsp Jarlic!}
1 bunch each of turnip, mustard, and collard greens
1/2 tbsp Blackety Blackened
2 cups chicken Stock (base or bullion's cool, too! Use veggie stock/base/bullion for the vegan fam!)
2 tbsp vegetable oil
salt & pepper to taste
Instructions
Pick and clean your greens the way anybody Black, or hella Southern, should know; remove the stem and a MINIMUM 3x rinse! While they're draining, getchu a skillet or pot big enough hold all the ingredients. Get it on medium high heat and drop in the cookin grease. Sauté the meat WITH the onions, until both are caramelized. Add the garilc/JARlic and cook another 1-2 minutes, just until it's fragrant! Then add your greens in, allowing them to cook down between each handful. Sprinkle in your seasonin blend, salt n pepper, and sauté another 3 minutes. Add the chicken/vegetable stock and bring to a boil. Cover and reduce heat to simmer, stirring occasionally, for 25 minutes. This is also the time to taste and adjust your seasonins! Serves 4-6 as a side, 2-4 as a main. Store leftovers refrigerated for up to 7 days; frozen, up to 3 months. Reheat on the stove top or the microwave til heated through.
**If you're not a meat-eater, you wanna wait til you've added your stock/base/bullion to add that ¼ tsp of liquid smoke!
